Demographic forces stall global progress toward gender equality

Average support for gender equality worldwide has plateaued, in part because of higher population growth in countries where support is low and higher fertility among those with less egalitarian views. Public support for women's equal participation in education, paid work, and politics has increased in many countries but stagnated globally.
