The Eurosatory World Defense exhibition is taking place in Paris's Villepinte exhibition centre for the next five days. It is the world's largest defense and security trade fair, and this year it is bigger than ever, with over 2,500 exhibitors participating from over 65 countries, driven by a surge in global military spending amid escalating conflicts over the past two years

The announcement that the United States and Iran will sign an agreement this Friday, has been met with relief from world leaders while, in a joint statement, the UK, France, Germany and Italy called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the return of regional stability. They also reafirmed that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons must remain a priority.

US and Iran agreed to an “immediate and permanent” end to military operations under a surprise memorandum of understanding announced via mediator Pakistan on Sunday. The deal includes an end to hostilities in Lebanon as well as the lifting of a US naval blockade, according to Iranian state media. These were both key points demanded by Tehran before agreeing to any deal, reports France 24's correspondent Reza Sayah.

More than 2,500 exhibitors are taking part in the Eurosatory defense fair this week near Paris, one of the world's biggest weapon shows. James Andre, reporting from the show, says that AI, drones and weapons developed by Ukraine during its war with Russia are among the tech in the spotlight this year.
