Supreme Court allows Alabama to use GOP-friendly congressional map

Republican state Rep. James Gallagher, the former state Assembly minority leader, will join Congress as its newest member after he won California’s 1st District special election Tuesday, NBC News projects.

Alabama has no obligation to follow a vacated order, and had every right to challenge a district court's order until it is settled by the Supreme Court.
