Trump’s ‘American flag blue’ reflecting pool turns green after algae takeover

Algae was visible on June 14 in the National Mall’s Reflecting Pool despite a multimillion-dollar renovation that saw President Donald Trump order the basin painted “American flag blue” ahead of next month’s 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. Workers were seen clearing the algae as visitors gathered around the iconic landmark.
